The prestigious The Landmark London hotel has unveiled the extensive refurbishment of its 710 square metre SPA, an investment that redefines the standards of luxury wellness in the British capital. The redesign of the wellness area, serving the iconic 300 room hotel, was conceived by architecture and design studio Alex Kravetz Design (AKD).
The Architecture of Light and Material: A Spatial Vision
The architectural concept developed by Alex Kravetz Design revolves around a refined palette of organic tones and atmospheric lighting, with soft illumination designed to acoustically and visually isolate guests from the fast pace of the city.
The spatial layout has been completely reconfigured to optimise operational flows and enhance the guest experience. The distribution of the spaces has allowed the treatment rooms to be positioned in more intimate and quieter areas, while introducing a new couples’ suite and an elegant retail lounge at the entrance.
The Strategic Role of Spa Consultant Paula Perkins
A key contribution to the success of the project came from SPA Consultant Paula Perkins, who was involved from the earliest stages of architectural planning and concept development.
Perkins guided the integration of the hotel’s British heritage with Thai cultural references, ensuring that the luxury and sophistication of the new wellness area would blend seamlessly with the historic character of the property.
Thermal Engineering and the Integration of Aquaform’s Sensus
The thermal area was engineered and installed under the consultancy of Barr and Wray, and features a 34°C vitality pool equipped with goose neck hydrotherapy jets, a Finnish sauna, an aromatic steam room, an ice fountain and heated marble loungers.
Within this sophisticated architectural setting, Aquaform’s Sensus Experience Showers have been seamlessly integrated. Perfectly aligned with the rigorous interior design concept, Sensus solutions represent the meeting point between formal design and sensory wellness.
Through a carefully calibrated combination of water jets at different temperatures, lighting effects and chromotherapy sequences, the Sensus system takes on a strong architectural and furnishing value, transforming the hydrotherapy transition into an immersive ritual that completes the guest’s journey of regeneration.
