The Waldorf Astoria Lusail Doha is one of the most ambitious projects by WATG, with interiors and public areas designed by PYR – Pierre-Yves Rochon. Spanning approximately 66,300 m², the property includes 429 rooms and suites, as well as private villas and apartments.
The Hotel
The hotel reinterprets the monumentality of contemporary luxury through a fluid architectural composition, where soft lines and tactile materials define a language inspired by movement, light, and the gentle rhythm of the sea.
Public areas and guest rooms evoke the grandeur of a modern palace, yet maintain a sense of intimacy and comfort. The grand lobby, conceived as a seamless extension of the surrounding sea and landscape, allows guests to feel immersed in nature from the very first step inside.
PYR also designed the ESPA Life Spa, envisioned as a sensory narrative in which water becomes the generative element of form. The recurring motif of the pearl pays homage to an Arabic legend that tells of dewdrops transforming into pearls under the full moon, a poetic metaphor of purity and transformation, translated into reflections, iridescent surfaces, and delicate plays of light that heighten the perception of wellbeing.
The Spa and Its Wellness Concept
Occupying three levels and covering more than 2,500 m², the ESPA-branded spa embodies the philosophy of the experiential mindful moment — immersive experiences designed to engage body and mind in a journey toward balance and renewal.
A large panoramic terrace overlooking the beach reinforces the dialogue between interior and landscape, while the interiors are organized into distinct areas dedicated to both men and women.
Privacy is a key design element: intimate spaces such as the women’s tea lounge and the VIP and couple suites, each with private access, ensure moments of calm and exclusivity.
Relaxation is enhanced by heated loungers, floating beds, and quartz-sand loungers, designed to deepen the tactile and thermal dimension of rest.
Among the wellness features stand out a sensory sauna, Turkish bath, hydrotherapy pools, ice fountains, a men’s snow cabin, a spacious hammam, and a luxurious experience shower tunnel by Aquaform.
Aquaform’s Experience Showers
Thanks to the collaboration of Visual Project, Aquaform supplied the SPATIUM 35, an emotional shower tunnel that transforms water into an architectural and multisensory experience. The space is entirely clad in white marble slabs with grey and black veining, punctuated by polished black marble frames that establish a precise axial symmetry, turning functionality into a striking design feature.
The corridor-like environment, lined with fine stone and softly illuminated, features six independent shower systems with varying spray patterns, chromotherapy, aromatherapy, and immersive sound. The sequences — rain (gentle), mist (enveloping), tropical (massaging), cascade (energizing), aerated (water + air), and atomized (micro-particles) — alternate in intensity, temperature, and rhythm, guiding guests through an evolving sensory journey.
Light, reflected by the glossy marble and the movement of water, enhances the brilliance and spatial depth of the room. The interplay of colors, scents, and sounds engages every sense, creating an atmosphere that is both minimal and majestic. Here, geometric precision meets the fluidity of water, revealing the very essence of Aquaform’s design philosophy: the perfect synthesis between architecture, technology, and wellbeing.
