Located in the Spa Tower of the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, WinStar SPA is a striking example of how the latest trends in immersive wellness are transforming dedicated spaces.
Design, comfort, and sensory stimulation
Designed by Don Genders of Design for Leisure, the facility interprets the SPA as a contemporary space for regeneration, social interaction, and multisensory experience.
The design goal was to create an engaging environment capable of attracting a broad and sophisticated clientele from the nearby urban areas of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Oklahoma City.
The SPA spans two levels and includes a hydrothermal area of over 1,000 square meters, where advanced technologies and carefully planned pathways guide guests through a progressive journey of heat, water, and sensory stimulation. Solutions minimizing physical contact with surfaces make the experience even more comfortable and contemporary.
Shared hydrothermal area and water rituals
A central feature of WinStar SPA is the co-ed hydrothermal area, designed to be enjoyed by couples and groups, promoting a convivial approach to wellness. The heart of this space is a large hydrotherapy pool, surrounded by heated loungers that invite deep relaxation after water treatments.
The area is complemented by a co-ed sauna, rain walk, and bucket shower. Separate male and female areas are also available, each with sauna, steam room, and ice lounge, providing both shared and private experiences depending on the moment in the SPA.
Two-level wellness architecture
The layout follows a clear flow logic, distributing functions and atmospheres across two floors to create a gradual journey from reception to the most immersive experiences. Natural materials, theatrical lighting, and a constant presence of water create an enveloping environment, where the emotional component becomes an integral part of the regenerative experience.
The proportions of the spaces and the scale of the hydrothermal area are designed to enhance the resort while also making the SPA an independent destination, capable of attracting external visitors and becoming a reference point for wellness in the area.
The experience tunnel and Aquaform water experiences
A key element in WinStar SPA’s identity is the integration of Aquaform equipment, designed to create highly impactful sensory experiences.
In particular, the experience tunnel built with the Sensus system guides guests through an immersive journey where water treatments, changes in light, temperature, and fragrances alternate in carefully designed sequences, stimulating the senses and promoting deep relaxation.
Alongside the experience tunnel are the Spatium
experience showers, which complete the offering of multisensory water pathways. The combination of jets, misting, and lighting effects transforms the shower into a true experience, making the transition between areas a complete wellness ritual.
